How is process server pay handled?

Assignments are generally paid per job, with many opportunities listed at $30+ per assignment. Rates vary by county, urgency, mileage, number of attempts, document type, affidavit requirements, and complexity. Rush or specialized work may pay differently, and exact rates are reviewed before you accept work.

Can I choose which assignments I take?

Independent servers are matched with work based on their coverage area, qualifications, and availability. You are not required to accept every opportunity, but reliability and clear communication help us route future assignments appropriately.

Do I need prior process serving experience?

Experience helps, but dependable field professionals with strong attention to detail may still be considered. We look for people who can follow instructions, document attempts accurately, and represent Legal Mailman professionally.

Do I need to be a notary?

A notary commission is a plus in many markets, but it is not always required to apply. If your area or assignment type requires notarized affidavits, we will discuss expectations during onboarding.
